Abstract

The idea of a special issue of Journal of Portuguese Linguistics on Creole Languages and Portuguese sprang from the workshop on the Typology of Tone and Intonation, the third held within the European Science Foundation Network Tone and Intonation in Europe (http://www.let.kun.nl/tie/). The editorial team of Journal of Portuguese Linguistics is grateful to the Network Coordination Committee – Carlos Gussenhoven (Chair), University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands; Amalia Arvaniti, University of California at San Diego, USA; Gorka Elordieta, Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, Spain; Sónia Frota, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal; Esther Grabe, Oxford University, Great Britain; Aditi Lahiri, Universität Konstanz, Germany; Tomas Riad, Stockholms Universitet, Sweden; and Norval Smith, Universiteit van Amsterdam, The Netherlands – and to the European Science Foundation for supporting and sponsoring this issue of the Journal.
